Freakout USA

Anybody remember this among American bloggers? This is one of the best albums regarding Garage Rock that I have heard in a long time. It is excellent.

Bookworm

Am around with loads of books ranging from Dean Koontz etc. Having trouble with my browser still, so I am experimenting with other browsers, SeaMonkey etc. So far this is very compatible with Blogger but I am glad to be back in the game. It's been a month since I last did this. I love the movies,  old and new as you can see. No more browser trouble anymore, have my desktop now a laptop. From now on everything becomes interesting. I am now completely mobile, no longer confined to the home. Wonderful.

Still here

Have been having some trouble with blogging. Coming right slowly. But where I am we have been having power cuts and it is affecting my blogging too. This morning, here in Durban, near St. Augustine's Hospital, where I live there was no electricity for six hours. Two weeks ago on a Sunday night none for five hours, the next day Monday it was off in the evening for three hours, Tuesday morning off for two hours.
I am contemplating buying a laptop and my Blackberry is due for an upgrade in November so I will be changing that to maybe the Samsung touchscreen...

Blogging mirth

It's time to tell those reading my blogs a little bit about me. I have just posted this on Google Plus and YouTube...so here goes. My father was an American ship's captain who spoke Spanish fluently and he also read Spanish books but it was not kept to himself.  Ha ha ha....He read it to my mom and I - which drove us both mad....watch this space. There's more to come...I just love Ricky Martin. I think he is so groovy and I think he is the best Latino singer of the 90's and the present. Just how many agree with me or disagree? Show me by your browsers and mobile devices.

Recipe/Food

I know there is an abundance of recipes around but I am just experimenting here so if there is any interest here give me an indication. I will make them short and not complicated. They come from my mom's recipes and my own personal favourites.

Books to read

Have been enjoying Tess.Gerritson.-.The.Apprentice. Excellent book. Then I got stuck into Anne Rice's Merrick of The Vampire Chronicles. Very enjoyable. Have read all of her books lately. By the way I love the Lunascape Browser. Have it near my Chrome, Firefox and Slimbrowser. Have just a few pages left of Merrick to read, now I've just finished.
Today, 1st of July, obtained books from the library near me viz. James Barclay - RavensoulJeffrey Deaver - More Twisted and more. It won't take me long to finish this lot. Has anyone read these? You can check out my Facebook page.
I am reading several of Dan Simmons' books - Children of the night is one of them.

I love the book sites on the internet. Bartleby.com is excellent. You get a variety of books on there plus maps etc. I have more which I will post soon depending on the response I get. Will be going to the library on Tuesday (finished Dan Simmons, quite good) for more books to read.

Supernatural

By the way,how is everyone enjoying Supernatural ? Give me a show of browsers as to just how many people are watching the show. It is one of the best if not the best to hit TV screens. What do you think?

My Blog/Website - Encyclomojo.webnode.com / Wordpress.com

I see my fellow Americans are loyal in looking over my various blogs concerning music, books etc. I give them thumbs up for doing so and I hope you continue doing so. For that I will make it more interesting and I appreciate your loyalty with your browsers and mobile devices. Give me feedback. You can find me on Facebook....I also have my own website -encyclomojo.webnode.com which I thoroughly enjoy working on and plan to do more as time goes by. Hi, pleased to meet you all. My name is Robin Herbert and I am 52 years of age, born in Durban, KwaZulu, Natal and as you can see, this is what I enjoy doing the most - books and music with all the ramifications...Blogarama.com is very good and I like the books on Amazon.com. What I find superb is that if one is on Accuradio.com and they click on the album cover it takes you straight into the Amazon.com website where one can see the artist and the albums etc. You can also find me on Wordpress.com with my Siegfriedblog. Have been experiencing problems with my internet connections (still am) but glad to be up and running. Good to be back and to see you all. Still experiencing some problems...
I have not been good lately. The browsers I work with are very uncooperative, Chrome, Torchbrowser. Very slow and unresponsive. Apologies for not getting back. Am having problems with getting into Blogger. It is just one thing after another. Now I'm using the Lunascape browser and it's a case of so far so good. I quite like this browser - good clarity etc.

Game of Thrones

What makes Game of Thrones so popular and appealing?  So far Season 4 has drawn 6.6 million viewers and it has been renewed for 2 more seasons for a 5th and 6th season according to Internet Movie Database. Am watching Game of Thrones at the moment. It is quite  riveting. Ooooh. I felt that.

Books - Fiction, Non-Fiction

I have been reading E L James Fifty Shades Darker. I am not impressed with the way she writes in the present tense. We were always taught not to write in this tense and it goes against the grain to see this in print. The music, however, has not abated but this blog is going to be strictly confined to books, what I have read over the years and what I am presently reading. Books and music, that is what my passion has been over the years and it branches out into so many fields.
This is an extension of my website - every book section has been categorized into numbers:

000 Generalities
004 Computers
020 Library Science
025.04 The Web Library
030 General Encyclopedic works - infoplease.com,refdesk.com,

Film Music - 790

This is going to intertwine with previous posts and can be very interesting. At the moment I am listening to the soundtrack to the movie The Lost Boys with Kiefer Sutherland...I have the soundtrack of Carrie on vinyl with John Travolta and Sissy Spacek. A very good movie but the latest remake is nothing like the original. It does not convey the same impact and emotion of the first.

YouTube Albums

I love the Sweet. All their albums are good. From Desolation Boulevard to A Nod Is As Good As A WinkAlexander Graham Bell is playing at the moment....Cut Above The Rest album by them is excellent. I always come back to YouTube because the albums here are so good and I find what I am looking for.

How about Vensun The Dragon Flies ? Doesn't that beat just get your foot tapping and your body moving..?? Iron Maiden are good. Michael Schenker Assault Attack done in 1982 is good. Try the Heavy Metal playlists. This one I am listening to at the moment is good viz. Rock Mix 2 - Dj. @nth0n 1. with Dio, Toto etc. How about Pantera.com with A Vulgar Display of Power ??? Some Van Halen.com with their first album. Then throw in some Avicii.com.

Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a True Story from New Zealand in 2005 is particularly enjoyable.

Sunday 9 March 2014

This is a great day outside...rainy weather but a great day for blogging. In two months I turn 52 and my music taste encompasses everything from Vera Lynn, Nelson Eddy, Jeanette MacDonald to opera, country, rock, heavy metal, pop viz. Pussycat, Abba, Brotherhood of Man etc. My favourite internet radio stations are Atlantic Oldies 2NGiRock 109, but primarily I love Youtube. I find all my music in all its forms on there, highly enjoyable and I enjoy sharing it with others.

Now this is a WOW experience. Full Album: Flash & The Pan (Flash & the Pan) from Australia. This is excellent and Tarney-Spencer Band - Three's A Crowd 1978 also from Australia. I bet there are a lot around who still remember these albums and maybe more.... Are there any Australians around who remember these singers....?? And especially South Africans. This is the same Alan Tarney who wrote for Cliff Richard. And don't forget Air SupplyAC/DC.

I had two versions of Shabby Tiger Lovely Lady - one on 7-single and one taped from the radio. There is only one version on YouTube. Does any one have the other version which had slightly different lyrics..?

I am particularly fond of Bad Company...one of my favourite groups. They were named after the movie of the same name with Jeff Bridges made in 1973.

Nazareth My White Bicycle is excellent.

Blackstump.com.au

Blackstump.com.au is an Australian web site that began on 10th May 1995, the same year as refdesk.com.

Refdesk.com

Refdesk.com - I love this site. It has links to many other websites and much more. all my faves.com is also excellent. I love this one too. Anyone reading my blog and following through is going to be astounded at what will open up before them. There is a goldmine here....I will keep on updating this post...I must also add that this site is completely family friendly for children, teens and their parents viz. adults. There are book sites and everything else here that I recommend. Blackstump.com.au in Australia also has links to these sites. Completely global. Not to mention ipl.com - internet public library. The Seventies - Year by Year

1970 was as clear a year of transition in pop music as there has ever been, but rather than being one in which a new style of rock swept globally, as in 1956 or 1963, 1970 was a year of disintegration. The Beatles broke up, Diana Ross and the Supremes split, and Simon and Garfunkel went their separate ways. Peter Green left Fleetwood Mac and Brian Wilson withdrew from active direction of the Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin (the latter never had a British hit single) died.

1971 Commentary

5 Jun 1971 Middle of the Road had Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep at position No. 1 on the British charts for 34 weeks.
1976  Australian group Sherbert had 'Howzat' 25 Sept at position No. 4 on the British charts for 10 weeks
1977  Commentary - Patsy Gallant had 'From New York to LA at position No. 6 on the British charts for 9 weeks 10 Sept.

1978 Commentary
1978 Pussyfoot lay your love on the line - I had this on 7-single and loved it with each play. Excellent song
1979 Chic - Risque album is excellent. It was still being played in 1980, 1981
1979  The Belgian Benelux and Nancy Dee had 'Switch' at position No.52 for 4 weeks on the British chart

Disco

Last night the music on You Tube was sheer magic. In 1975 Fox had Only You Can - Imagine Me Imagine You - S s single bed and in 1978 Pussyfoot had Lay your Love On The Line. Chilly had their well known remake of the Yardbird's classic For Your Love - Hot Shot in 1981 had Don't You Believe That I'm on Fire. A very good song with plenty of oomph!!!

Infonews 2

At the moment I am using the Torch Browser which is excellent. It is based upon Google Chrome and I have been listening to Ellen Foley's 'Another Breath' album which was recorded in 1983. She also sang with Meatloaf and with The Clash on their 'Sandinista' album viz. "Hitsville UK". Am watching "Grimm" on the box simultaneously. Brilliant program. I love the horror series including "Supernatural" Vampire Diaries I enjoyed Desperate Housewives immensely. Regarding Carlos and Gabby " arguing happily ever after" brought guffaws of laughter.....

If I am correct that looked like a foot in the pot of stew in Grimm.......

I should mention that I also enjoy Nickolodeon and Disney channels. I thoroughly enjoy the cartoons as well as iCarly, Big Time Rush, Hannah Montana etc.
